News and information for tournament directors
Two important steps in organizing a regional tournament:
- Clear the date — check the Missouri USCF Tournament Clearinghouse to avoid date conflicts with other tournaments.
- Post your tournament announcement on this Web site — send your announcement to the MCA Webmaster when you send it to the USCF (or before!). It can be posted here months before it appears in Chess Life.
Information for new TDs:
- The USCF TD page provides information on TD certification, changes to the USCF Official Rules of Chess, etc.
- The USCF also provide useful information on Running Your First Tournament.
MCA support for TDs:
The MCA will reimburse tournament directors/organizers who require MCA membership for Missouri residents in their events $1 per player up to an annual maximum of $100.
To collect, submit a copy of your USCF tournament report and crosstable along with completed membership forms and amounts collected for all new or renewing members to the MCA membership chair. Non-Missouri residents playing in your tournament are not required (but are encouraged!!) to join the MCA. It would be greatly appreciated if you could submit game scores from your event to the MCA Bulletin Editor to be considered for publication in the MCA Bulletin.
TDs will need to let the MCA membership chair know in advance that you are planning an MCA membership-required event so that a current listing of MCA members for your use can be posted on the Members List page (link above) of this Web site the week preceding your tournament. Here is the MCA membership form that you can print out and duplicate for use at registration. Your tournament will be posted on the MCA Web site, and if your notification is received far enough in advance it will be mentioned in the MCA Bulletin as well.
